Recall Alerts

February 21, 2012

If your local park, school playground or backyard is boasting this new high-tech slide, steer clear! They may look cool, but the Slalom Glider, manufactured by Landscape Structures and sold nationwide between 2006-11, can give your child more than just a thrill. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has already received 16 complaints of children being moderately to seriously injured while playing on this equipment. The injuries range from bumps and bruises, to a fractured collarbone, 14 fractures to arms and legs and one bruised spleen! So tell the kids to step away from the slide, and call the company at 1-888-438-6574 for information on choosing between a full refund or a replacement playground equipment product. You may also visit the company's website at http://www.playlsi.com.

These shapely and colorful Ganz Dancing Teapots are hot! Unfortunately, they're a little too hot when they're full of hot water--the handles, anyway. They were sold in specialty and kitchen stores nationwide over the past year, and they retailed for about $30. If you have one of these tea kettles, check the SKU number on the bottom of the pot, then go to the CSPC site to see if your lot is included in the recall. If so, call Ganz at 1-800-724-5902, or visit the company's Web site at www.ganz.com for information on receiving a full refund.

Tumbelkinds toy vehicles and playsets are popular with the under 3 crowd--but if your child is a fan of these International Playthings products, it's time for a trip to the toy store. The products can easily break into small, sharp pieces, posing a laceration and/or choking hazard to your child. Visit the CPSC for specific lot information, and if you have any of the products listed in the recall, take it away from your child immediately, and contact the company at 1-800-445-8347 or email recall@intplay.com for information on receiving a replacement product.

Your single or double Bumbleride may bump up your status with the neighbors, but they won't make you very popular with your kids if the front wheel cracks and causes a sidewalk spill! There have already been 36 incidents of front wheel cracking, with two injuries caused by the subsequent spill, so if you have this product, stop using it immediately, and contact the company at 1-800-530-3930 for information on receiving a free front wheel retrofit kit. They're Carters. They're cute! But these Weeplay Kids Carter's Watch the Wear Bodysuits and Sleep to Wear garments have potentially weak snaps that can come undone and cause a choking hazard to infants and small children. Call 1-888-226-2200 to receive free replacement garments, or visit the CPSC for more specific lot and recall information.
