May Day!

Recall alerts announced in the month of May

By Tammy McKillip May 15, 2012
Swimming season is almost here, but if you have a Banzai in-ground pool water slide, it could be a slippery slope to DEATH! A 29 year-old mother recently died after fracturing her neck on her way down the partially deflated slide in Massachusetts. Unable to swim to safety after the neck fracture, she hit her head on the bottom of the pool and drowned. The Consumer Safety Commission has reported two similar incidents--one involving a fractured neck, and another incident which left a young man a quadriplegic. The slides are sold in some Toys-R-US and WalMart stores for about $250, and at least 21,000 of them are being recalled.

These Kennedy folding step stools are colorful and cute, but the CSC has received numerous complaints that the plastic stools break or collapse while in use, so if you have a 9-inch or 13-inch version of this product, fold it up and contact the manufacturor at (855) 270-8301 about getting a refund.

Plenty of kids will be hopping mad to hear about this one, but if your little jumpers have a Sportspower BouncePro 14' Trampoline in your back yard, it's time to hit the ground. Sold nationwide at Walmart stores, the netting that is supposed to protect your kids from falling can easily break, creating a fall or entanglement hazard. About 92,000 of these trampolines are being recalled. If you have this product, tell your kids not to use it until you contact Sportspower at (888) 965-0565 or visit their Web site about getting replacement netting.

Picture of recalled pink Home Bunny sippy cup

These adorable bunny sippy cups were sold at Target stores nationwide, but those sweet ears could put your child's eye out! Turns out they may split or break, leaving sharp edges at the top. Target has received several reports of minor injuries from broken ears, luckily none of them too serious, but the potential is there, so they are recalling the cups, labeled TARGET 200020683" for pink and "TARGET 200020884" for the blue ones, on the bottom. Return them to your nearest Target store, or call (800) 440-0680 for information on receiving a full refund.
