More Magnetic Toys Recalled

Frankly, I am surprised that tiny magnetic objects are still offered on the toy market, considering what we have known for years about how dangerous they can be if swallowed. But for some reason, children are drawn like magnets to metal magnetic beads, and parents continue to purchase them, which means stores keep stocking them, manufacturers keep producing them, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) keeps recalling them.

The latest magnet recall involves THREE MILLION Buckyballs and Buckycubes high powered magnetic sets sold nationwide in stores that include: Barnes & Noble, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Brookstone, Hallmark, Marbles Brain Store, and Think Geek.

These products have design flaws and incomplete or incorrect directions that may lead to injury or DEATH to children and teens, so if you have any of these items in your home, remove them right away, and contact your local retailer for information on a recall remedy.

Uncontrollable Urban Shredders

These Hot Wheel-branded Urban Shredder battery-operated ride-on cars may be too "hot" to handle--literally. The problem is in the accelerator, which may have a mind of its own, causing the car to speed up without the driver's control or knowledge. This can create a fall hazard. If your child has this product, keep him away from it, disconnect the car's battery, then return it to the place of purchase for a refund or credit. Or you may contact Dynacraft at (800) 551-0032, or visit their Web site for more information.

Burning Banshees!

If your little pilot is remote-controlling a Banshee 3 Channel Toy Helicopter, it's time for grounding. the rechargeable battery inside the unit can overheat or catch fire. This poses a burn risk, as well as the risk of property damage. Call Midwest Trading Group at  (866) 815-4714 or visit them online for information on getting a full refund for your product.

Keep the Beat, Hold the Eggs

These Basic Beat BB201 colorful shakers may have your little budding musician shaking and shimmying, but they may be bad eggs. The tiny end cap glued to the top of the egg can come off, causing a choking or aspiration hazard to younger children. Take the eggs away from your child, then contact West Music at (800) 397-9378, or email them for information on receiving a free replacement product.
