Dangerous Chicken

Foster Farms is recalling a large amount of its fresh and frozen chicken products due to possible Salmonella Heidelberg contamination. If you have recently purchased store-bought chicken products of any kind, check this list to see if your product is involved in this recall, which is associated with a specific current outbreak of disease being monitored by the FSIS and CDC. You may read more about this particular outbreak here. If you have this product, DO NOT EAT OR HANDLE IT! Throw it away, or take it to your local market for a refund or replacement product. If you believe you or a familiy member may have already been contaminated by the bacteria, speak to your physician. Symptoms of salmonellosis generally set in between 12-72 hours after contact with the bacteria and may include abdominal cramping, fever, and moderate-to-severe diarrhea that can require hospitalization.

What's in the Beef?

HEB Meat Processing is recalling 75,365 pounds of different types of fresh beef products due to the possibility that they may contain "foreign materials" (metal shavings). Check this page for specific product label information. If you have the product, dispose of it, or take it back to your local market for a refund. For more information about this recall, you may contact HEB Customer Relations at 1-800-432-3113.

Inorganic Matter in Organic Ham

If you felt good about purchasing your "Wegman's Food You Feel Good About Organic Ham," this news might hurt those feelings. It turns out that certain lots of the ham, which is processed by E.G. Emils & Sons, are being recalled because they may contain "extraneous materials" (bits of plastic). Contact E.G. Emils & Sons, Inc. at 1-215-763-9824 if you have questions, but don't eat the ham. Take it back to the store for a refund.
