Food Safety Alerts

By Tammy McKillip August 19, 2014
Check your spice rack, Macaroni moms. Chances are you have McCormick Oregano, right? If your bottle is .75 ounces, it may have been recalled due to a possible salmonella threat. Since the salmonella organism can cause serious or even fatal illness in children, the elderly, or those with weakened immune systems, and may cause miscarriage in pregnant women, you should take this recall seriously and dispose of the product immediately if you have it. Don't try to return it to the store. Just call McCormick at 1-800-632-5847 to arrange for a refund or replacement product. Symptoms of salmonella include fever, vomiting, nausea, and abdominal discomfort or pain. Speak to your doctor if you have ingested this product and are experiencing symptoms of illness, as the organism can enter the bloodstream to create further or more serious illness on rare occasions.

Still Not Peachy

Wawona Packing Co has expanded its recall of peaches, plums, nectarines and pluots due to the risk of listeria monocytogenes. An earlier recall involved only products packaged June 1-July 12, but the recall now includes all products packaged through July 17. Do not eat the recalled fruits. Throw them away, then provide proof of your purchase or a receipt to request a refund from the store. Contact the Wawona Packing Company at (888) 232-9912 if you have questions about this recall.
